When faced with so-called ‘progressive business’, stay skeptical

It was an interesting article that made me more skeptical about this. It conveys helpful and valuable information about a business's role and that a company might fulfill more' sustainable environmental' and 'climate policies.' Companies have a more outstanding social function than simply filling the pockets of their owners or investors. Businesses must have a crucial part in development and poverty alleviation that play a critical role in accomplishing these aims, which connect partners. The article mentions the classical creed, "the belief in competition, individualism, hard work, private property, meritocracy, limited government, and free market" (O'Christiansen). Throughout the classical perspective, the shareholders are the endeavors; in contrast to the management view, they are a different group with stokes and obligations on the company. Another significant point that the article mentions is that the public good is for the private interest, and stakeholders(owners) are for the shareholders.

The North Face

This case study will be a group research by Vaterson, Klaudia, and Betsega. After we discussed what we would talk about, we decided to study the outdoor products company, The North Face. For those who might not know, The North Face is controlled by the VF Corporations. It started with a couple, Douglas Tompkins and his wife, Susie Tompkins. They were very fond of climbing themselves, so they decided to open a retail store selling climbing equipment. That is why The North Face logo is also a mountain named Half Dome, located in Yosemite National Park. After a few years, they decided to come up with their outerwear line. Today The North Face is one of the biggest companies in the world, and they have a broader line, including bags, gear, trail jackets, mountain equipment and accessories, shoes, outdoor clothing, etc. The main reason we decided to base our research on this company is because of its environmental advocacy. It is an excellent opportunity for us to talk about how environmentally friendly it is and what it does to protect it. The North Face led the outdoor industry in using recycled nylon and other fabrics. It is an excellent opportunity for the environment and a significant step in the world; however, being eco-friendly comes with its own problems. The North Face company is seen In the market as one of the most expensive companies, especially when it comes to outdoor clothing. This would have to be the biggest weakness of The North Face because they target more prosperous people in society. We will discuss with one another and analyze this problem in more depth. We will provide solutions to create more affordable prices while still trying to keep the same quality and not damaging the environment.
